Chisinau, 6 June 2023 - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has had meetings with President of the Italian Senate Ignazio la Russa and President of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana. The discussions were focused on the Moldovan citizens’ priorities and the country’s parliamentary agenda, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

„The close relations between our countries are due inclusively to the community of Moldovan citizens who live in Italy.’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed.

The officials exchanged opinions more in detail about the priorities on the Moldovan parliament’s agenda, including the improvement of the parliamentary diplomacy in the more active promotion of the Moldovan citizens’ interests both in the country and abroad.

‘’I was happy with the interest and openness of the Italian side to advance our bilateral relations in more sectors of common interest, such as the justice, re-launch of the economy, European agenda, cultural projects,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said.

Also, the parliament speaker expressed gratitude for the full support of the authorities to modernize the country. At the same time, the Italian officials gave assurances that Moldova may count on Italy’s support in the carrying out of its European agenda.
